Pine River Football Coaching Staff
Chad Phillips- Head Football Coach- This fall is Coach Phillips' 16th season coaching football. He coached three years as an assistant at Bay City Central and three years as an assistant at Alpena High School. Coach Phillips spent five seasons serving as the Bucks defensive coordinator. The Bucks made the playoffs during two of those seasons. Coach Phillips took over as the head coach in the fall of 2007. He played football at Cadillac High School for Coach Mike Oatley. Coach Phillips teaches strength and conditioning at Pine River High School. He is married to Amy and they have a 4 year old son named Luke and a 1 year old daughter named Lane.
Brian Mumby-Assistant Varsity Coach-Brian is in his 22nd year of coaching football. This fall will be his first year coaching the Bucks. Brian coached for 10 years at Lakeview followed by 11 years at Reed City. The last 8 years he was Reed City’s Defensive Coordinator. Brian will serve as the lead defensive back coach and an assistant offensive line coach. Brian played football at Lakeview High School. Brian teaches second grade Reed City. He is married to Laura who is Pine River’s chemistry teacher and varsity softball coach. They have 2 daughters Sadler (4) and Kylee (2). Brian also has a 19 year old daughter named Kayla and a 16 year old son named Auztin.
Aaron Schab- JV Head Coach/Assistant Offensive Coordinator- Coach Schab began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Sparta High School. After coaching for two years at Sparta, he joined the Bucks staff coaching at both the varsity and J.V. levels for the past 9 years. Coach Schab played high school football at Sparta and also played 1 year of college football at Concordia in Illinois. Coach Schab teaches at Pine River Middle School. He is married to Kelly and they have a 3 year old son named Jackson and a 1 year old daughter named Lillian.
